We are a LGBTQ student group on the UTSC campus. We strive to provide a collective voice, promote a Positive Space, and promote awareness for Queer and Trans students on campus. SC:OUT is an open group, welcoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, allied, and everything in between students. We have a lounge in BV334 where anyone is welcome to join us. The door is almost always open. The Lounge is a safe space so feel free to come in at anytime.
Formally known as LGBTQ@SC and then LGBTQ@UTSC, SC:OUT was started in the early 2000’s. SC:OUT works with many groups, both on and off campus, to host social events, workshops, and provide access to resources. (Which can be found in the Lounge) We host weekly events, such as Rainbow Lunch and Outreach, and bigger events that happen throughout the year such as our week long series of events “That’s So Gay,” that happens at the end of Winter Term.
SC:OUT’s Purpose is to:
-provide a collective voice for members to address students, student governments, faculty, administrators, and other organizations to promote a comfortable space for queer and Trans students
-provide a welcoming and active social atmosphere for out, closeted, and allied members by organizing social activities and providing safe lounge space.
- accumulate and provide information, resources, and peer support on a wide range of sexuality/gender issues for the purpose of education for the student body
-respond to instances of queerphobia and transphobia within UTSC
